The Lucky Wishlist

A few short years ago, my husband and I got bitten by some kind of a bug. We couldn't see where it bit us, and it definitely didn't hurt. The reaction was unlike any other bite, but much, much more severe. It's not a bug that you can see, but it can certainly crawl up on you.

It is generally known as the travel bug, and once it gets a hold of you, there is no letting go.

We have just under a million items on our wish list and we will be ticking them off as we go along...

So here is a short summary of our top 5 wishlist of where we would love to go if we could get on a plane first thing tomorrow!

The Lucky Travellers nominated 15 destinations. We each picked 5 new destinations, places we have not explored together as of yet, that we would both love to see. We also picked 5 places we have seen, that we would return to in a minute and explore in more detail.

  • USA:
There are too many things to do in the USA. I would start with the East coast, then explore the West coast, cover all the national parks across the continent and then Alaska and Hawaii.
  • Kenya:
After visiting the Serengetti in Tanzania, I can't wait to join the great migration again in the Masai Mara.
  • Norway:
I would love to see the Northern Lights up close. My top choice from where to do it, Norway!
  • Greece:
While my husband have been to Greece, I am still looking forward to seeing the sun set over those little white and blue houses.
  • New Zealand:
This is apparently one of the countries with the most breath-taking scenery in the world, and I would love to be able to confirm it from personal experience.
  • Croatia:
Sailing between the incredible islands, walking on the walls of the old city and finding the spots where Game of Thrones was filmed... can't wait!
  • Japan:
I believe we need to be able to cross of walking underneath the cherry blossoms in Japan from our list.
  • Rwanda:
It must be the most amazing experience to be able to see the mighty gorillas in their natural habitat in Rwanda.
  • Malawi:
Relaxing on the great lakes in Malawi is definitely a priority.
  • Zimbabwe:
Finally, while we have both visited Zimbabwe before, we would love to explore it
together and share the beautiful places we have seen individually.
While we would prefer crossing new destinations off our bucket list, there are 5 places we would return to in an eye wink.
  • Tanzania:
This is most certainly first on our list. We visited the Serengetti and NgoroNgoro Crater on our honeymoon, so we might be a bit biased! But we can't imagine a more perfect place on this earth.
  • Botswana:
We have both been to Botswana before we met and visited it again (twice) since, but it is such a naturally rich country with so much to offer. We would love to experience the other must see destinations inside Botswana.
  • United Kingdom:
We have only spent a few days exploring the most famous city in the UK, but we would love to return and get a better feel of Britain, especially the scenic countryside.
  • Germany:
The parts of Germany we did see, only made us want to see more. It would be great to explore some other big cities and especially the Rhinelands in more detail.
  • Italy:
Last, but most definitely not least. Again, we might be biased as Italy holds a special place in our hearts, as this is where we got engaged - but it is just amazing how there is something breathtaking around every corner. It is the perfect place to spend hours getting lost in the streets.

What is the top 5 destinations you would most want to visit, if funding and leave wasn't an issue? Share your thoughts!
